On October 24, 2014 in Jacksonville Florida, the See The Girl Summit brought together professionals from lawyers to social workers to discuss the issue of human trafficking. The goal of the See the Girl Summit is to arm attendees with knowledge that will soon turn into action, especially in Jacksonville, where human trafficking is happening at alarming rates. During this summit dozens of people including victims, friends and family of victims and people who would like to help the cause gathered to discuss possible ways to stop this growing problem. During the summit the leaders were able to conclude that laws need to be changed that prevents the victim from being viewed as the criminal and there needs to be a deeper look into the foster care system where most victims are coming from.
